Here the big cut refers to thorough cut more than 10 cm length. In some extreme cases, marine airbags may be cut into two pieces.<\/p>\n<p>First of all , customer need to know after repair those marine airbags with big cuts will have to be used with lower pressure normally 50-80% percent of rated pressure. So before repair, an evaluation is necessary, if the airbags with low pressure is needed? If yes then go on with repair.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Repair tools<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Airbag repair kits:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Include heating plate and auto temperature controller and tools for repair operation<\/li>\n<li>Angle Grinder:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Grind the cuts on ship launching airbags<\/li>\n<li>Hydraulic Jacks:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To press heating plate tightly with rubber patches<\/li>\n<li>Bracket:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0To enable hydraulic jacks press heating plate with rubber patches<\/li>\n<li>Brush:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Brush glue onto patches and cuts on ship launching airbags<\/li>\n<li>Steel plate and blocks:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To enable hydraulic jacks press heating plate with rubber patches.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Steel plates need to put atop heating plates<\/li>\n<li>Big size Needle with cords:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To sew the cut with cords<\/li>\n<li>Sand bags:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Put sand bags between ship launching airbags and bracket<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Repair Material\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Three kinds of rubber material: Surface rubber, cord rubber sheets and glue rubber<br \/>\nGlue:\u00a0 Cut glue rubber into pieces and mix them with premium gasoline with the weight ratio (1:5 glue \/rubber to gasoline)<\/p>\n<p>Isolating cloth: To isolate heating plate with rubber patches<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/f1bfc22af8c3419a0631316710a908da.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2880\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/f1bfc22af8c3419a0631316710a908da.jpeg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/f1bfc22af8c3419a0631316710a908da.jpeg 800w, http:\/\/eversafemarine.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Rubber-material-for-ship-launching-airbags-repair-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/eversafemarine.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Rubber-material-for-ship-launching-airbags-repair-768x432.jpg 768w\" alt=\"How to repair big cuts on ship launching airbags\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Repair Procedure<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em>Step 1\u2013 Clean and grinding<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Clean and grind the cuts with angle grinder.<br \/>\nMark the mending area and grind. For crack more than 20 cm long, grinding area should\u00a0be 26 cm wide, 15 cm longer than crack length. For small crack grind area can be 20\u00a0cm wide and 15 cm longer than crack length. For hole with bigger than 5 cm diameter,\u00a0grind area should be 26 cm diameter. The strip should be 1 cm wider (each side) than the wound.<\/p>\n<p><em>Step 4 \u2013Prepare patches<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The patches should be N+ 1+1 layers, N represent the layers of damaged airbags.<br \/>\nFor example , for 6 layers airbags cut, the patches should be 7 layers cord rubber and one layer surface rubber.<\/p>\n<p>Each patch layers should be brushed with glue then stacked together.<br \/>\nThen the whole patch will be pressed to the cut on airbags, remove possible bubbles in layers of patch.<\/p>\n<p><em>Step 5\u2013 Put airbags into bracket<\/em><\/p>\n<p>One sand bag should be put on bracket beam and under marine airbags.<br \/>\nAdjust airbag position ,make sure the patch are on the suitable position for jacks to press.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/e6561f41e432204c10956b67bb459535.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2883\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/e6561f41e432204c10956b67bb459535.jpeg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/replace\/e6561f41e432204c10956b67bb459535.jpeg 800w, http:\/\/eversafemarine.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tools-for-marine-airbag-repair-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/eversafemarine.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Tools-for-marine-airbag-repair-768x432.jpg 768w\" alt=\"How to repair big cuts on ship launching airbags\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Step 6\u2013 Jacks press<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Set up hydraulic jacks and press the heating plate to patches tightly. Recommended pressure of jack is 0.5- 0.6 MPa.<\/p>\n<p><em>Step 7\u2013\u00a0 Patch Vulcanization<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Turn on the temperature controller and wait for the vulcanization to be completed.<br \/>\nFor different layers in different conditions the required heating times are different. Normally the heating temperature should not exceed 160 \u2103.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>A vulcanization trial can start as below:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>When temperature of heating plate reach 140\u2103 turn off the power of heating plate.<\/p>\n<p>After 30 minutes turn on power again and let temperature reach 140\u2103 again then turn\u00a0off power.<\/p>\n<p>Wait until temperature of heating plate drop to 50\u2103 people can release airbag from\u00a0the press for checking. If the vulcanization is not enough the patch will be soft and sticky. In this case people need to press and heat the patch again.<\/p>\n<p>If vulcanization is too much the patch will get burnt and chaps.
